Essential Pet Dog Supplies – Dog Beds, Kennels and Crates
A great bed and a place to stay is one of the basic needs of your dog. Dogs also need a private place where they can lay their head and feel relaxed. If you are very emotional and possessive about your pet puppy, you may offer him your own bed or couch but that is not always ideal.
A separate Dog bed is essential for your puppy dog, no matter how much you love to cuddle and hug him. With different types of dog beds available nowadays, it has really become a difficult task to choose a dog bed for your pet.
The different types of dog beds include the standard dog beds which come in various shapes, sizes and colors and do not have any edges or rims. There are nest shaped dog beds, orthopedic dog beds, covered dog beds, kennel dog beds, heated dog beds, cooling dog beds, traveling dog beds etc.
Dog Kennels and crates are another very important pet dog supplies which have become a basic need. Both the terms Kennels and crates refer to a type of confinement or shelter for a dog. While selecting a dog kennel or crate you have to keep in mind the size of the dog and select one in which your dog can easily stand and turn around. A dog bed which can fit in the kennel can also be selected for providing maximum comfort to your favorite pet.
There are various types of dog kennels and crates amongst which you can select one which can provide most comfort to your dog and which can suit you according to the size of your dog. Kennels are made up of plastic, wire, iron rods, wood etc. For traveling purposes dog car crates are also very useful in which you can place your puppy and put it in your car while traveling. They also serve the purpose of a carrier in traveling.
Other dog kennel supplies include dog toys, dog food, dog collars and dog leashes. The quality and type of dog food should be properly determined as it can have a major impact on the health of your dog. For grooming requirements of your dog you need some equipment such as combs, brushes, shampoos etc. You may also need scissors and hair clippers to trim your dog hairs. A nail trimmer is also useful for trimming the nails of your dog.
With great dog supplies you can shower your love on your pet dog and watch him reciprocate by wagging his tail and licking your legs.

What else should I have?
In May, my mom and I are going to buy a yorkshire terrier. (not a teacup, regular size) Now we have the breeder and the specific dog picked out, and a vet. But now comes buying all of the supplies needed to care for him. Though I’m pretty sure I have everything needed, I want to make sure that this puppy is coming home to a sufficient environment. Here’s what I have gathered so far
toys
books about the breed
food bowl
water bowl
food
treats
lead/leashes
collar
tags
Training Pads
Vet
Dog bed
lots of yard{:
time
nail clippers (although we planned to get this done professionally but still)
dog brushes
shampoo (tick and flea)
harness
crates/kennels (though he won’t be in there much)
someone is always home to watch him
CLEAN environment (everything is puppy proof for a small dog)
there is more I’m sure that I’m forgetting but that’s most of it.
ok it sounds like you are ready!!! Good to see somebody who knows that taking on a puppy is a big responsibility. Although somebody said that training pads are a bad thing in the house I have to somewhat disagree. From my experience Little Dogs are extremely hard to housebreak…they have the smallest bladder I have ever seen. Make sure you use the training pads near the door so eventually they will go to the door to let you know when they have to pee. I didn’t use training pads with my first rat terrier who is now 1 1/2 and then i did use them on my second rat terrier who is 6 months old. My 6 month old rarely has house accidents where my older one does. So I believe that they do work! Just haev patience! Good luck!!
