would it bring competition?

ok so my puppy is like completely spoiled. she sleeps under the covers, wears a hot pink snuggie, etc. so she is reallly really spoiled. a couple weeks ago i mentioned to my dad that i would like another puppy. i would get her as a baby and pamper her as much as i do to my dog now. he told me that it would bring competition to macy and it wouldn’t be good. would it be a bad idea? what do you think?

btw:
my dog now is 4, almost 5
i would get the new dog as a puppy and it would be smaller than my dog now
macy is a shih tzu
she never barks
not very agressive but growls at the cat next door when i am playing with the kitty

Dogs are friends; not dolls. And if you still play with macy, I don’t see why she would be jealous. Just be sure to spread the love around. Give 1 attention; give the other attention. That’s my theory. Hope it helps.
