wardrobe cabinet design?

is there a wardrobe cabinet design somewhere on the internet? My sis turned our side room into a practice dance room and she asked me to make her a wardrobe to put her outfits in. I have some experience in building things cuz i’ve built some doll houses, model frame houses and a couple of Dog Training activity equipment. But i’ve never done a wardrobe. anything is good thanks

What quality level are you looking for?

Bang for the buck, get something at Home Depot or Lowe’s and put it together. Not custom, not all that strong, but it works.

If it’s just a box with a 1″ dowel for hangars, it’s easy. 15/32 sheet plywood AC grade, hinges, fastener of some kind, butt joints with Titebond, put it on a stand of 1×4 (essentially a box with no top or bottom), and a couple of pieces of 1×4 with a U cut into it to support the dowel. Give it a coat of paint and call it good. Inexpensive and effective, but not high art.

As the quality level goes up, so does the cost of both materials and tools, as well as the level of technique required. Melamine works OK, but does not glue well surface to wood so you would want coarse thread screws or the custom joining hardware used by mass market houses (see the hardware links below).

Solid wood casework like I used to do is not for the faint of heart. You will want a decent-sized drill press, spade bits for large holes, twist bits for small holes, Forstner bits for flat bottom holes. Also a router and good carbide bits (Amana, Bosch) The mass market carbide and HSS bits are pretty useless, IMO, because they dull quickly. Work area and work surface are also important.
