Dog Strollers – Take Your Dog Wherever You Go

The idea of a dog stroller may seem a little unusual at first. Actually they are great for elderly dogs or dogs that can’t get around on their own very well for one reason or another. If you find that you often have to carry your little dog when you are out walking, then putting him in a dog stroller might work great for you.

Being in a stroller will be more roomy and comfortable than being held for long periods of time. Plus it will be easier on your back too. Of course, you can take his leash and let him out to smell and walk for short distances but when he gets tired, he can relax and ride in style and not miss out on the fun.

Having a dog stroller will let you take your dog with you more often, like to soccer practice and other events where you would have to hold him for long periods. In a stroller he can curl up and go to sleep if he wants, or he can sit and watch all the action. Plus you can stow his water bowl and some snacks in an attached pocket so you will have everything he needs on hand.

A stroller for dogs is enclosed in netting so you don’t have to worry about him jumping out. That is why they are better than simply sitting him in a toddler’s stroller. You don’t have to worry about him trying to lunge out of the stroller if a squirrel runs in front of you. The strollers even have sun shades so you can keep your dog in the shade so he doesn’t over heat and being made of mesh material, there is always adequate ventilation.

Dog strollers come in all sizes and in a variety of styles. You can buy them designed to hook onto a bicycle or be pushed while walking. They are also available in a range of prices depending upon how they are designed. You could pay from $40 to $200.

The higher priced options are usually larger to accommodate bigger breeds of dogs or they are made with more attention to the wheels so that they absorb shock and make for a comfortable ride for your dog. Better wheel maneuverability allows you to take the stroller off-road and onto hiking trails.

Dog strollers are still somewhat new and might be difficult to find. You should look for them at your local pet store but if you find the selection to be limited you can always shop for them online. You will find all kinds to choose from including those from top brands like Pampered Pet, Zephyr, Solvit, and Pet Gear.

Just because your dog has a hard time getting around is no reason to make him stay at home. You can fold up the stroller and slip it in the trunk of your car and take him to the park to see the sights and smell the smells just like he did in his younger years even if he doesn’t have the stamina to strain at his leash anymore.
