Are German shorthaired pointer dogs hard to field train?

Is the hunting gene so strong is knows what to do in the field or does it need to be trained to point hold and retreve. If it needs training roughly how much would it cost to send the dog to a field training school.

The cost of field training will vary depending on where you live BUT there are local clubs that do this for fun. If you want to do field work find a local club and join.They love to teach and you will make new friends with the same interests.I would NOT send my dog off to training school even though you read about some of them in the back of hunting mags. I have heard horror stories of dogs getting pregnant, lost and injured. If you intend to hunt with this dog then YOU need to train it.It creates a bond where the dog will want to do good for you, not some stranger.
