Dog Training Products to Stop Problem Barking
Dogs bark. People sometimes buy dogs to protect their homes, and their barking can scare away criminals and other unwanted guests. There are times, however, when a dog’s barking is a nuisance. There are dog training products that can help owners stop problem barking.
Special harness
There are special harnesses designed to help calm dogs. They are created to use touch therapy and pressure to relieve a dog’s anxieties. This can often be helpful when it comes to alarm barking.
Alarm barking is when dogs are alerting the pack to possible danger. That danger can be a passing car, another dog barking, or children playing in the yard. If the dog can’t see the source of the sound, he may become more insistent. These harnesses have had some positive results in resolving alarm and anxiety-based barking.
Clicker Training
Clickers can have some success with dog barking. Clickers are used to help mark behavior the owner wants the dog to perform. If a dog is barking excessively, there are two ways owners can use this device.
One way to train a dog to stop barking is to command them to stop and then use the clicker to mark the action when they quiet down. For example, if a stranger is at the door, the owner wants them to bark. However, a dog should only bark a couple of times, and then they should stop. An owner should give the dog the stop command after a few barks. If the dog stops barking, press the clicker to mark the behavior.
The second way a person can use the unit to get a dog to stop barking it to first use it to teach the dog to bark. Using the speak command; click the device when the dog barks. This form of reverse psychology will teach the dog to bark when the owner commands him/her.
Sonic Devices
Sonic dog training products can be used to help owners keep their dogs safe and prevent unwanted behavior. Dogs are sensitive to sound and can hear at decibels that humans can’t. Sonic devices are high pitched enough to be irritating for pets, but people don’t hear them.
For people who are trying to get their dog to stop barking, there are different types of sonic devices. Some are handheld units that have a button the owner can press. If the dog barks when the owner doesn’t want them to, they can push the button, and the device will emit a sound that bothers the dog. If the dog is irritated when they bark, the theory is they will stop barking to stop the bad noise.

Treats
Dog training treats are another way to help prevent problem barking. When the dog barks, order them to sit and tell them to stop. If they stop barking, praise them and give them a treat. This way they will learn that staying quiet is what the owner wants and will only bark when necessary.
Dogs don’t bark to annoy their owners. They have a reason why they bark, even if it isn’t apparent to people at the time. It is important to find out why the dog is barking and use dog training products to teach them to stop. This is better method than yelling or punishing the dog.
