How to get rid of ants in electrical appliances?

We are having a problem with ants nesting in electrical appliances. The telephone was full of them and their little white eggs and now they are going into the television, satellite, dvd etc. The strange thing is they’re not going anywhere near food, just electrical appliances. There are thousands of them and when you shake the appliance then the eggs fall out too. There’s none in the kitchen, just the living room where no food is kept so I don’t know what’s attracting them….they must just like the thrill of standing on electricity! Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of them. I’ve got a new baby and a dog so it has to be something baby and dog friendly. Any help would be appreciated
