is this good housing for a rabbit?

I have her in a exra- large wire dog crate. she has a large nesting box (that she can jump on top of) taking about one third of the space, and inside it is a bed (you know, like a cat bed but half the size, they sell them for ferrets, but she loves it) the floor is lined with some old blankets. She’s got her mineral lick between her water bottle and hay rack and her food bowl is in the corner adjacent to her litter tray. (It’s the kind that is fastened to the wire and is shaped like a corner with a high back and a low front) She’s also got some random wooden chew toys, including her favorite, the knot nibbler. Is there anything I’m missing? Could there be anything I could put in there to make her happier?
she gets plenty of exercize, her cage is in my room, so every day after school I just open the door and she is free all afternoon. And in the summer she spends hours in the shade in her X-pen.

It looks like you have a wonderful cage for your friend. I found that my rabbit, bookworm, loves to have a bell in his cage. He will ring it for minutes at a time!

I got him one of the hanging treat bars… the kind that has holes in the treats and that just thread onto the bar with a screw bottom with a bell. I found it in the bird section of the pet store. I usually put his salt lick on that instead of at the side of his cage, it stays cleaner.

We got a 3’ X 4’ dog crate for a travel/stay over cage for him when we have to leave him with other people while traveling. We put a piece of 1/2″ plywood in the back half between the two halves of the crate – we screwed a piece of carpeting to the top so he wouldn’t slip . It was about 18” off the floor of the cage and he just jumps up there and sits.

I also use the ferret litter boxes… they are great! You can use binder clips to keep it against the side of the cage. Bookworm likes to try to move it around if I don’t secure it in place. Also, he would dig in his litter box litter if I didn’t put plastic canvas (craft section of store) on top of the litter. The plastic canvas has mesh holes that let the urine get to the litter but the rabbit can’t dig the litter up and kick it all over.
